nagavulu nijamani - yamunA kalyANi

Annamaiah expresses his feelings in a philosophic mood in this song. He wants his mind not to be after temptations and desires. He says that the consequences of previous births follow us and one should realize and reform himself. He requests his mind not to waver but to think of Sri Venkatapati only.

P nagavulu nijamani nammEda ogina naDi yASalu vaddana vE || Are these smiles true? Reject the temptations.
C1 tolliTi karmamu dontala nunDaga chella bOyika jEsEdA
yella lOkamulu yElETi dEvuDa olla nolla nika vaddanavE||
Consequences of karmas of previous births are in plenty. Why do you add more? You rule the entire universe, Oh God! Reject all the evil, oh my mind.
C2 pOyina janmamu porugula nunDaga cheeyanaka indu jela gEdA
vEyi nAmamula vennuDa mAyalu Oyayya nikka noddana vE ||
Consequences of previous birth are with me. Why not hate it, why do I indulge again in evil? Oh my Venkatesa, you have thousand names. Enough is your maya (sport).
C2 nali neenAmamu nAlika nunDaga tala koni itaramu daDavEdA
balu Sree vEnkaTa pati ninnu golichi voluku chenchalamu loddanavE ||
When your name is on my tongue, why do I crave for other things? I pray to you Venkatapati. Let me not waver.

nallanimEni nagavu choopula - poorvikalyANi

In this song, Annamaiah describes the beauty and qualities of God Venkateswara. He says that He dispelled arrogance of demons, recovered Vedas from the sea, and that his good qualities are countless.

His complexion is dark blue. His eyes are bright. He is the God with smiling looks.

He is the God that dispelled the arrogance of demons, that saved the world from the atrocities of sinners.

pATi mAli naTTi prANula duritapu
teeTa bApi naTTi dEvuDU ||
He recovered the Vedas from the sea. He set right sinful nature of wicked persons.

nela konna tiru vEnkatAdri dEvuDu
tiramuga dhruvuniki divya padam bichchi
terachi rAjannaTTi dEvuDU ||
Venkatesa's great qualities are countless. He bestowed the divine permanent abode to Dhruva. God Venkatesa is unique.

nAnATi bratuku - rEvati

Annamaiah sings this song in Vyragyam i.e. asceticism. . He says that all activities, attachments are delusion, and warns that the consequences of sins will not leave us and that only faith in Venkatesa and struggle for salvation are helpful.

kAnaka kannadi kaivalyamu ||
Ordinary day to day life is a drama. Whether you see or not, salvation is the ultimate.

yeTTa neduTa gala dee prapanchamu
kaTTa gaDa paTidi kaivalyamu ||
Birth and death are true. The life in between is drama. This world is illusion and the ultimate is emancipation.

naDi mantrapu pani nATakamu
voDi gaTTu konina vubhaya karmamulu
gaDi dATi napuDe kaivalyamu ||
Eating food, wearing clothes is routine.
Ultimate consequences of good and bad deeds will accompany you.
After crossing that stage only, there is liberation.
C3 tegadu pApamu teeradu puNyamu
nagi nagi kAlamu nATakamu
yegu vane Sree vEnkatESwaru DElika
gaganamu meedidi kaivalyamu ||
No one can be cut off from his sin or virtue. All the time it is illusion. Sri Venkatesa rules from above. It is a long way for emancipation.

nArAyaNa tE - behag

In this devotional song, Annamaiah describes Lord Vishnu who appeared in different incarnations to protect Dharma (righteouseness).

nArada sannuta namO namO ||
Oh Narayana, I bow to you. Narada worships you. I bow to you again and again.
C1 murahara nagadhara mukunda mAdhava
garuDa gamana pankajanAbha
parama purusha bhava bandha vimOchana
nara mruga Sareera namO namO ||
You are the destroyer of the demon Mura. Oh Mukunda, you lifted the Govardhana mountain. Oh Madhava, You fly on Garuda bird and you have lotus at your navel. You liberate us from worldly bonds. You are the supreme. As Narasimha, you took the form of animal and man, I bow to you again and again.
C2 jaladhi Sayana ravi chandra vilOchana
jala ruha bhava nuta charaNa yuga
bali bandhana gOpa vadhoo vallabha
nalinO daratE namO namO ||
You recline on ocean. The sun and the moon are your eyes. Lotus born Brahma worships your feet. You vanquished Bali. You are the lord of Gopikas. You have lotus on navel. I bow to you again and again.
C3 Adi dEva sakalAgama poojita
yAdava kula mOhana roopa
vEDOddhara Sree vEnkata nAyaka
nAda priya tE namO namO ||
You are the primordial God.
All the scriptures adore you. You are the fascinating lord of Yadavas. You restored Vedas. You love music. I bow to you again and again.

naTanala bhramayaku - lalita

Annamacharya tells us that all the worldly pleasures and problems are our delusion. He asks us to seek Sri Venkateswara's grace, which is permanent.

P naTa nala bhramayaku nA manasa
ghaTi yinchu hari yE kala vADu ||
oh my heart, don't be deluded by this worldly drama of life. Hari is there. He is the master mind.
C1 munchina jagamidi mOhini gajamu
ponchina yAsa puTTinchE didi
vanchanala nijamu valenA yunDunu
manchulu mAyalE marunADu ||
Gajendra sank in the mire of delusion. Desires are always with you. Deceit appears like truth. Dew disappears in no time.
C2 sari samsAramu santala kooTami
soridi bachAramu choopEDidi
garima neppuDu galakala manuchunDunu
marulagu vidhamE mApaTiki ||
This world is a fair with many commodities. This life is full of buzz with desires. All the greatness and splendour vanish overnight.
C3 kanduva dEhamu gAni mugiyadidi
andina bahu roopa mADEdidi
yendunu Sree vEnkaTeSwaru DunDunu
Dindu paDaga nide tera maragu||
The body wears out but the soul is eternal. Venkatesa is everywhere. Here is his hood and here is the curtain of illusion.

nitya pooja - dwijAvanti

In this song, Annamacharya considers his body itself is temple and the functions of sensory organs as various services to Lord Venkatesa.

Here is my regular worship to my lord in front of me.

Body itself is a temple and head is its tower. His graceful glances are like temple lamps to one's conscience.

kala kala manu piDi ghanTa yaTa
naluvaina ruchulE naivEdyamulaTa
talapu lOpala nunna daivamunaku ||
Speech itself is Mantra. The buzz of world is like ringing sound of bells. All good tastes are offerings to the God in one's inner self.
C3 gamana chEshTalE anta ranga gati yaTa
tamigala jeevuDE dAsuDaTa
amarina voorpulE yAla paTTamulaTa
kramamutO Sree vEnkatarAyaniki ||
All movements and actions are expressions of conscience. This life is for His service. Deep sighs are like fans to Lord Venkataraya.
