vADe venkaTAdri - vasanta - Adi

In this song Annamaiah describes the splendour of Sri Venkatesa.He says that his greatness is unlimited , that he is the creator of the universe and that he rescued devatas from demons.

P vADe venkaTAdri meeda vara daivamu
pODimitO poDa joope poDavaina daivamu ||
He is the God on Venkatadri that bestows boons. He is the top most God appearing in all splendour.
C 1 vokkokka rOmakoopAna nogi brahmanDa kOTlu
pikkaTilla velugondE penudaivamu
pakkananu tanalOni padunAlugu lOkAlu
tokki pAdAna kolache doDDa daivamu ||
The whole universe raises from each pore of his skin. He is magnificient god that shines brightly. All the fourteen lokas are within him. He is benevolent god that scaled lokas in three steps.
C 2 vEda SAstrAlu nutinchi vEsari kAnaga lEni
mOdapu pekku guNAla moola daivamu
pOdi dEvatala nella puTTincha rakshincha
Adi kAraNambaina aju ganna daivamu ||
Inspite of reciting the vedas, one may not be able to comprehended him. He is the repository of countless number of virtues. He creates and sustains all Devatas. He is the root cause of creation and is the creator of Brahma.
C 3 sarasa Sankha chakrAlu saribaTTi asurala
taragi paDavEsina danDi daivamu
siri nuramuna ninchi Sree vekaTeSuDai
SaraNAgatula gAchE satamaina daivamu ||
He wields the conch and the discus to annihilate demons. Lakshmi graces herself on his chest. Sri Venkatesa is always engrossed in protecting his devotees.

vandE vAsudEvam - Sree - Adi

This is a prayer song in Sanskrit. Annamaiah worships Vasudeva describing his appearence,his ornaments,his abode and his benevolent acts.

P vandE vAsudEvam brundArakAdheeSa vandita padAbjam || I bow to Vasudeva. The king of Brindaraka worships his lotus feet.
C 1 indeevara Syama mandirA kucha taTee
chandanAnkita sachchAru dEham
mandAra mAlikAmakuTa samSObhitam
kandarpa janakamaravinda nAbham ||
You shine like blue lotus. Your body is smeared with the sandal paste which is on your consort Indira. You are adorned with garland made of Mandara flowers(hibiscus) Your crown is glittering.You are Manmadha's father. Your navel is lotus-like.
C 2 dhaga dhagita koustubha dharaNa vakshasthalam
khagarAja vAhanam kamala nayanam
nigamAdi sEvitam nijaroopa SEsha pa
nnaga rAja SAyinam ghana nivAsam ||
Your chest shines with koustubha jewel. Garuda the king of birds is your vehicle. You are lotus eyed. The scriptures adore you. You recline on the king of serpents and made it your great home.
C 3 karipura nAtha samrakshaNa tatparam
karirAja varada sangata karAbjam
saraseeruhAnanam chakra vibhrAjitam
tiru venkaTAchala dEvam bhajE ||
You readily rescued Dharmaraja the king of Hasthinapura. You blessed the king of elephants with your lotus-like hands. Your face is beautiful like lotus. The discus is glittering on your hand. I worship the holy lord of Venkatachalam.

vinarO bhAgyamu

In this song Annamaiah expounds the merits of the stories about Sree Maha Vishnu. He says that Vyasa,Narada and even the cowherd maids enlightened all by rendering the stories of Vishnu.

P vinarO bhAgyamu viShNu kadhA
vennu balamidivO viShNu kadha ||
Listen to the stories of Vishnu. It is our fortune. They support us like back bone.
C 1 Adi nunDi sandhyAdi vidhulalO
vEdam bainadi vishNukadha
nADinchE nidE nAradAdula chE
veedhi veedhula nE vishNu kadhA||
From the ancient times Vishnu's stories have been akin to rituals like Sandhya. Narada and the other sages recited Vishnukadha every where.
C 2 vadalaka vEda vyAsulu nuDivina
vidita pAvanamu vishNu kadhA
sAdhanam bainadi sankeertanai
vedakina chOTanE vishNu kadhA ||
Veda Vyasa incessantly recited famous and sacred tales of Vishnu. The songs rendered in praise of Vishnu are the abode of Vishnu.
C 3 golletalu challalu gona koni chilakaga
velli viri yAye vishNukadhA
illidE Sree venkatESwaru nAmamu
velli golipe nee vishNukadhA||
While the Gopikas churned curd, stories of Vishnu bloomed on their faces like flowers. In this way Sree Venkatesa's name is popularised by Vishnu kadhas.

vedikina nidiyE - shanmukhapriya

In this song Annamaiah emphatically says that the name of Hari is the essence of all the 'mantras'.

P vedikina nidiyE vedArdhamu
modalu tudalu hari moolambu||
If you explore thoroughly, Hari's name only is substance of the Vedas. Hari is the begining and the ultimate.
C 1 munukoni avayambulu enninA
panivADi SirasE pradhAnamu
enalEni suralu endaru kaligina
munapaTi hari moolambu ||
Whatever be the number of organs of body, head is prominant which executes all the functions of all other organs. What ever be the number of Devatas, Hari alone is the primordial.
C 2 mOvani indriyamulu ennainA
bhAvapu manasE pradhAnamu
eevala matamulu enni kaliginA
moovuralO hari moolambu ||
Whatever be the number of dependent organs, thinking mind only is important. Whatever be the number of religions, Hari is the supreme among the trinity.
C 3 iravagu guNamulu enni kaliginA
parama jnAnamu pradhAnamu
iravuga Sree venkaTESwaru nAmamE
saravi mantramula sArambu ||
Whatever be the number of virtues one has, spiritual knowledge is essential. Sree Venkateswara's name alone is dear to you and it is the essense of all Mantras.
