brahma jAtE namOstutE ||
I salute planet Jupiter the lord of Tara. He is born of Brahma.
A.P. mahAbala vibhOgeeshpatE
manju dhanur meenAdhi patE
mahEndrAdyupA SritAkrutE
mAdhavAdi vinuta dheematE ||
Jupiter is powerful and all pervading. He is the ruler of Capricorn and Pisces Rasis (constellations). Mahendra adores his form. Maha Vishnu and other Gods acclaim his supreme intelligence.
C surAchArya varya vajradhara
Subha lakshaNa jagatraya gurO
jarAdi varjita krOdha kacha
janakA Sritajana kalpatarO
purAri guru guha sammOdita
putra kAraka deena bandhO
parAdi chatvAri vAkswarupa
prakASaka dayA sindhO
nirAmayAya neeti kartrE
nirankuSAya viSwabhartrE
niranjanAya bhuvana bhOktrE
niramSAya makha pradAtrE ||
Bruhaspati (Jupiter) is the most eminent Guru of Devas. He wields thunder-bolt. He is the supreme Guru for the three worlds. His qualities are auspicious. He is devoid of old age and anger. His son is Kacha. He is like celestial "Kalpataru" tree in fulfilling the desires of devotees. Lord Siva and Guru Guha are delighted with him. He is bestower of progeny. He is protector of desolate. He is the personification of four stages of speech. He is ocean of compassion. He is serene. He is the author of Ethics. He is firm in his decisions. He is protector of the universe. He is devoid of emotions. He delights the world. He is unblemished. He is the bestower of fruits for Vedic sacrifices.
