bandhanAn mOchaya - KarnATaka sAranga - aTa -

kALeeya staddhvanim SrutvA krOdha samrakta lOchanAha
babandha krushNam bhOgEna dadruSu stam vrajoukasaha ||
paSyatssunandAdishu gOpikAsu SrikrishNamEvAkhila mitrabhootam
tushTAvarAmassakalAtmadarSee sarvAtmakam krushNamananya drushTvA||

Kaliya serpent's eyes became red with anger. He tied Sri Krishna with his long body. Gokula peasants were seeing it sadly. Nanda and Gopikas stood helplessly. Then Balarama who is very knowledgeable appealed to Krishna.

You are the primordial cause of existence of 'lokas'. You dispel our sins. You are devoid of sorrow and free from delusion. You descended in this world in human form to eliminate earth's burden due to demons.
C 2 bAlachApalatayA tavAnagha leelAyAlamiha kALiyavisha mASu vinASaya kalaya gOkula kalyANa madha bhO || Oh Krishna, You are sinless. Enough of your childhood sports. Please destroy the poisonous Kaliya and make Gokulam happy.

nandamEna mAnandaya tAmapi
nandanandana sundara Sri KrishNa ||
krishNa tatvavidAgeetamiti vrushNi janamudE

Oh Krishna the son of Nanda, please look at the plight of your mother Yasoda and father Nanda. Please make us all happy. Balarama who knows the real nature of Krishna addressed him in this way to make Gokulam happy. Narayana Teerdha an ardent Vishnu devotee writes this with utmost pleasure.

jNAtvA harihi sthiram bhAvam parasmin pumsi yOshitAm
Avishkarishyan gOvindam stAsAm prAhEdamAdarAt ||

kuladharma sEtu radha tArayati bahuLam ||
The world is like ocean. Know that caste, character, Karmas and other activities are like turbulent waves. The best way to cross this ocean is to abide by once own Dharama. There is no better way.

mahaneeya gruhapati masahAya taruNam
sahasA parama purushAnusaraNE nAlamiha
gruhapatimiha yAta gruhiNee SaraNam ||
Is it proper to leave your husbands and go to forest during night ? Don't be after other person. Nobody is more reliable than your husband.

pariharata kuruta para parihAram
tvarayaiva gruha manuyAta pAtaka buddhi
marivargamapi pariharata nissAram ||
paripoorNa bOdhaika rasamakhila sAram
paramapurusha manusarata bAlagOpAlam
guruvarakaruNA sudhA samudanchita
SivanArAyaNa teerdha yati geetamatulam ||
It is bad practice to go after another person leaving your husband. Gurus, relatives and other elders condemn it. So avoid such ways. Such paths are sinful and are devoid of real pleasure. So please go to your homes immediately.
Gopala is the embodiment of absolute knowledge and wisdom. You follow his preachings well. Ascetic Narayana Teerdha is blessed with Guru's nectar-like compassion to write this precious song.

Oh maids of Vrajapura, the Sarat season is like Lord Siva. We are blessed with his grace. Let us go to Sri Krishna now.

The Sarat season is pleasant like lord Siva. The sky is bright like ash on Siva. It is beautiful like pollen on white lotus.

kapaTa kEtaka kusuma bhAra virahiNam
kalita tArakagaNa sphaTikAkshAbharaNam ||
Just as sun rays dry up mud, the brilliance of Siva dispels sins. The sky is clear without clouds. Yearning lovers need not feel heaviness caused by intoxicating Ketaki flowers. The sky is decorated with garland of stars which resembles garlands of Sphatikas (sacred stones).

varahamsagati vighna pATana chaturam
vAnchita samudita phala vidhAtAram ||
The purity of Sarat season eradicates evil desires caused by Manmadha. Sarat season delights learned pundits. It removes obstacles in the path of supreme Yogis. It fulfills desires.

nikhila mAninee jana mAna vibhangam
Sarmada SaSidhara sarasOttamAngam
samudita gOvinda kruta bahusangam ||
Sarat season is like Siva with holy Ganga on head. It dispels women's ego. It bestows happiness like Siva who adorns crescent moon. It is like Siva who has close relationship with Vishnu.

eeSOpama SArada samaya vilasitam
yati vara Siva nArAyaNa teerdha phaNitam
yAdavAbdhija ratna sammiLitam ||
Sarat season's beauty resembles the splendor of Lord Siva. Great ascetic Narayana Teerdha writes this Gopavadhu song by the grace of Siva and Krishna, the jewel of Yadava clan.

karuNayA - sAvEri - tripuTa

In this song Narayana Teerdha praises the powers of benevolent Lakshmi Narasimha graced at Sobhanadri. He compares Sri Krishna to him.

nruNAm bandhahatim kurvan nrusimhOsi dayAghana
iti sambOdhya gOvindam sAnandam prAha gOpikA ||

Oh Sri Krishna, You you are embodiment of compassion. You dispel sufferings caused by attachments. You are like Supreme Narasima. A Gopika was telling to her friend this way.

Oh Sri Narasimha, you are full of compassion. When Prahlada was born, your compassion rose like ocean which rises at the sight of moon. You abhor indolence. You are mighty hero. Oh lord of Lakshmi, you are a mine of virtues.

bhakta chandana Seetala Sri nrusimha
uttunga sukireeTa unnata kEyoora
matta chitta mAtanga mardana mahAbala ||
Oh Narasimha, you are like forest fire for all sinners. You are like soothing sandalwood paste for devotees. Your crown and ornaments are royal. You torment arrogant people like a lion that attacks tough elephants.
C 3 traiguNya phalAteeta tatva phalAtmaka
tApajaladhi tAraka Sri nrusimha
Sri guru karuNayA Srita bhakti sudhArasa
Sri nArAyaNa teerdha SrEyO vidhAyaka ||
Oh Sri Naraimha, You bestow salvation which is greater than worldly pleasures caused by three Gunas namely satva rajastamogunas. You enable us cross the ocean of troubles. Narayana Teerdha's benevolent Guru blessed him with nectar of devotion to Lord Vishnu.
