In this invocation song Poet Narayana Teertha Prays to Sree Ganesa the remover of obstacles.

himagiri tanayApatyam hEmAchala chApa samuditam tEjah
kimapi mahattama mAdyam smartavyam vighna timira haraNAya
girirAjasutA soonuhu karirAja varAnanaha
paripandhi gaNa dhvansee surasEvyO virAjitE ||

I worship Sri Ganesa the one who is the dear child of Parvati, whose effulgence is like golden Hima mountain, who is worshipped at the begining of any event, who dispels evil obstacles, who has the head of king of elephants, who annihilates evil forces and who is worshipped by all Devatas.

Victory to Ganesa whose vehicle is mouse, who is bowed by all sages, who has devatas around, who has serpent as an ornament who makes all the devotees of Siva happy and who protects al devotees .

sadroopa sarasija samudita vinuta ||
Ganesa the Son of Parvati has unblemished history. He protects his devotees by dispelling their fears. He is always happy. He is Rudra's Son with attractive head and form and is adored by the lotus born Brahma.

kambu sudhAnidhi karpoora goura
sAmba sadASiva satkruti chatura
sAmavEdageeta sakalAdhAra ||
He is gentle with sagging belly. He has the brilliance of conch, the moon and pure camphor. He has the great skill of adoring Sambasiva and is extoled in samaveda as the root strength of the universe

SAtakumbha maNi divyA bharaNA
dhikrutaghana vighna timirAvaraNa
dheera nArAyaNa teertha sukaruNa ||
Indra and other devatas worship his feet. He is adorned with gem studded gold jewels. He shatters away all impediments which obstruct as clouds. Oh Ganesa, please shower your compassion on Narayana Teertha.

neeradhi vaTataru nikaTam nija Evaka brunda hita vidhAtAram ||

I worship Lord Jagannadha the lord of all 'lokas' who graced himself under a great banyan tree on Nilagiri by the side of sea for the sake of his devotees.

sarva vEdya vidam vishNum prabha vishNu mupAsmahE ||

I worship Sri Mahavishnu, the omniscient, the omnipotent, the lord of all yogis and the primordial cause of every thing.

You are comprehended by the Vedas. You are the bestower of knowledge and pure bliss. You dispel all delusion (maya). You fly on the Garuda bird and destroy the demons. You are the repository of all virtues and you are the embodiment of truth.

vidhu divAkra nayana vEdAnta bhavana harE
vidhi mukha surEndranuta vipula kaLyANa yuta
vimala yogi dhyEya vividha munigEya ||
You are the creator of this universe and your miracles are limitless. The moon and the sun are like your eyes. You are adored by Brahma, Indra and other Gods. Pious yogis chant your praise. You bestow all happiness and bliss.

You destroyed the demons Mura and Naraka. You bestow all happiness and your mercy is perpetual. You are the cause of our well being and the whole world seeks your shelter. You are the eminent teacher of Narayan Teertha.

In this tarangam Bhoodevi (Mother Earth) sings the praise of lord Vishnu and prays to him to incarnate in the world to save it from the atrocities of evil demons.

nikhila bhaya viyOgam yOgi chintyAm manantam
sura ripugaNa bhAram dussaham durbharammE
parihara paramAtman bhakti siddhaika moortE||

Oh Lord Sriman Narayana, you are the sole savior. You dispel our fears. Yogis meditate upon you always. Several demons are causing unbearable atrocities on the earth. Please relieve me of this unbearable burden and save the world.

P SaraNam bhava karuNamayi kuru deena dayALO karuNA rasa varuNalaya KarirAja krupALo || Oh compassionate lord, I seek for your shelter. You are the ocean of kindness and you showered mercy on the elephant king who was in deep distress. The atrocities of the demons have become intolerable.

You quelled the demon Madhu. Oh Madhusoodana , dispel my accumulated sins.

You are beautiful with dancing bells on your feet and bracelets on your wrists. You assuage the fears of the learned brahmanas and devatas. You dispel all evil on the earth with kindness. Oh Madhusudana , dispel my accumulated sins.

Your diamond studded earrings shine briliantly and you recline on the Sesha serpent. You are embellished with many virtues and you flourish both in micro and macro forms. The diamond studded pavlion is your abode. Garuda bird is your great vehicle. You live in the hearts of sages. Oh Lord Madhusoodana, dispel my accumulated sins.

You are terror for your enemies. You are Balarama's brother. You are the ocean of absolute happiness. You destroyed Naraka and protected all. You ruled the earth and the oceans, Narayana teertha is the devoted servant of Sri Hari. Oh Madhusoodana, dispel all my accumulated sins.

narAyaNaya - SankarA bharaNam - tripuTa

In this Tarangam Brahma and other devatas worship Sri Maha Vishnu before his incarnation as Krishna. Narayana Teertha picturises the form and functions of Sree Maha Vishnu the sole sustainer of the universe.

ksheerAbdhi madhya bhujagEndra mahAsanAya
dEvAya nAbhi kamalOdita padma jAya
yOgeendra bhAvya gaganAmala nitya bOdha
bhoomAbhidhAya purushAya namaha parasmai||

Sri Mahavishnu reclines on Adi Sesha over milk-ocean. Brahma the creator was born from his lotus-like navel. Maha yogis meditate upon him, the embodiment of supreme knowledge and wisdom. I bow to that supreme lord, Sri Mahavishnu.

AP nAgEndra SayanAya nanditA khila lokAyA || You recline on Nagendra the king of serpants.

Oh Narayana, you are the progenetor of Brahma from your lotus like navel. You shine like a bright cloud. You are the embodiment of static and dynamic objects, men, women and other creatures.. Narada and other sages bow to you. You are incomprehensible.

vigaLita bhaya Sokaya
gagana nirmala bodha gambheera bhAvAya
bhagavad bhakTa hrudaya padma bhAnu roopAya ||
Oh Narayana, You are the repository of countless virtues. The vedas and the other scriptures chant your praise. You are devoid of fear and sorrow. You are pure as the sky and your thoughts are profound. You are like the Sun to the lotus like hearts of devotees.

kambu pankaja koumOda keeSArjnAya
niravadya gaLa sObhi nija koustubha bhooshAya
parihruta para paksha pakshi rAja vAhAya ||
You hold the conch, discus, the lotus, the mace and the bow. You are adorned with grand koustubha gem. You vanquish the enemies of Dharma. The Garuda bird is your vehicle.
C 4 JagadEka nAthAya jAta madanAya Jita vairi manDalaya
nigama niSvAsAya nityA nanda roopAya
nirupama gOkula neeta navaneetAya ||
Oh Narayana you are the sole lord of the universe. You are the creator of Manmatha. You vanquish the enemy clan. You are the breath of the Vedas. You are embodiment of eternal happiness. You enjoy butter in Gokulam.
C 5 AmayAdi virahitAyAkhila MayAya kAmakOTI sundarAya
nAma roopa rahitAya- bhooma swaroopAya
soma soorya nayanAya sAmagAna gEyAya ||
Oh Narayana you are free from physical failings. You are an embodiment of Maya. You have the beauty of a million cupids. You are not bound by a name or a form you are all-pervading. The Sun and the Moon are your eyes. Samavedam chants your glory.
C 6 vArija lOchanAya vAsudevAya varamuni pArijAtAya
karuNakara bhakta kAruNya sArAya
nArAyaNa teertha nata charaNAbjAya ||
Oh Vasudeva, you are lotus eyed. You are the sacred Parijata tree that fulfills the wishes of sages. You are the ocean of kindness. Narayana Teertha bows to your lotus feet.

Sriman Narayana the lord of Lakshmi was born to Devaki and Vasudeva due to their abundant piety in their previous births. He is embodiment of Truth, Knowledge and Bliss. His resplendence is supreme. He excels a million Suns and Moons in effulgence. His radiance illuminated the prison. Devaki and Vasudeva were filled with ocean of happiness just as sea overflows at the sight of the moon.

You are born to Devaki and Vasudeva. Your divine crown radiates light. All the yogis meditate upon your lotus feet and saints yearn for meeting you.

kanakAmbaradhara kalita kalApa ||
You are the embodiment of unlimited happiness. You hold your bow but you are merciful. You dispel the deceitful demons condemning their sins. You wear golden dress and you are capable of winning any dispute.

manasija SatakOTi manjula vEsha
vikacha kamala sannibha vipulAksha
vimala hrudaya gopAlaka raksha ||
You are adorned with jeweled earrings and armlets. Your beautiful appearence challenges a million cupids. Your large eyes resemble lotus petals. Your heart is unblemished. You protect the cowherds.

karuNA rasa bhara miLita vykunTha
paripAlaya bhuvi bhAgya vitaraNa
guru bhakta nArAyaNa teertha SaraNa ||
Koustubha gem shines brilliantly on your neck. You rule this world in all splendour with your divine compassion. You protect Narayana Teertha who has utmost reverence to his Guru.

Jaya Jaya durgE - durga

Sri Krishna was born to Devaki in Kamsa's prison cell. He was born with divine effulgence of Sri Mahavishnu. Vasudeva in order to implement the divine plan revealed by Akashavani (clairvoyance) exchanges Devaki's child Krishna with Yasoda's child at Nandigram. Kamsa attempts to kill Yogamaya, the child with Devaki in vain. She is none other than the mighty Goddess Durga. She declares that the child who would be death knell to Kamsa is already growing somewere else. Rejoicing with this happy revelation the Devatas and the Sages sing this song praising Mother Durga.

Oh Mother Durga, you dispel afflictions of those who seek for refuge. You are the creator, the sustainer and destroyer of the three 'Lokas'. You are the bestower. You exist in our conscience. You are the cause of all our accomplishments. You bestow the power of discrimination, wisdom and knowledge. You are the Supreme witness of all ' Lokas'.

Beautiful are your lotusfeet. You rule the vast humanity bestowing happiness. Nanda, Sunanda and other yogis bow to you. You are the sister of Sriman Narayana and you are blissfull.

samadhigatA khila sAngavEde
nara kinnara vara sura bahu geetE
nanda nutE nikhilA nanda bharite ||
Diamond studded dancing bells on your feet echo with melodious notes of samaveda. The celestial musicians, devatas and men sing your praise. Sage Nanda worships you. You are filled with supreme bliss.
C 3 kanaka patAvruta ghana tara jaghanE
kaLyaNa dAyini kamaneeya vadanE
InakoTi sankAsa divyA bharaNE
IshTa janA bheeshTa dAna nipuNE ||
Your beautiful body is covered with golden dress. You bestow prosperity and your face is charming. Your divine ornaments radiate like million Suns. You skilfully bestow your favourite devotees their heart's desires.
C 4 anudaya laya satchidAnanda latikE
AlOla maNi maya tATanka dhanikE
nAnA roopAdi kArya sAdhanikE
nArAyaNa teertha bhAvita phalakE ||
You are the embodiment of satchidanandam (existence conciousness, bliss) You are richly adorned with gem studded ear hangings . You are omnipotent, omnifarious (nanaroopa). You remain forever in the thoughts of Narayana Teertha.

mAdhava mAdhava - mOhana - chApu

Gopikas sing this song praising the beauty of Krishna. They recognise him as the incarnation of Sri Maha Vishnu who came to the earth to establish Dharma.

anantayanta mabalAssabalam paramam jaguhu ||

Sri Krishna the supreme soul and Balarama were amusing all cowherd boys of Vrajabhumi. Gopikas describe it in all wonder.

AP sAdhaka phalada krishNa sabala Sree krishNa || The devotees who pray to Krishna along with Balabhadra are bestowed with the fruits of their wishes.

mandara dhara sunanda vandya sAnanda ||
Oh Mukunda the son of Nanda, You are charming with your lotus- like face. All the devotees and Gopikas are blessed with perpetual happiness. Your consort Indira's (Lakshmi's) heart is filled with joy. You bore the Mandara mountain on your back(In Koorma avatara). Sages like Nanda and Sunanda bow to you in all reverence.

bhavya yOgi bhaya vAraka bhaktO ddhAraka
avyaya bhooti dAyaka agaNita lOkanAyaka
nava nava neeta rasika nanda bAlaka ||
You are divine with saffron mark on your forehead. You are the succor to the distressed. You protect yogis from all worries. You uplift your devotees. You bestow infinite powers. You are the lord of countless number of worlds. Yet, you are here as Nanda's boy enjoying butter.

sarasadguNa jAla sangeeta lOla
neerada neela nirmala nitya SuddhAgama moola
nArAyana teertha pAla nata jana lOla ||
You run around with beautiful dancing bells on your tender feet. You are the repository of all virtues. You are abosored in sweet music. You are beautiful like blue clouds. You are unblemished and eternal. You are the basis of all the sacred Vedas. You are engrossed in the welfare of your devotees. You protect Narayana Teertha.

Ehi mudam dEhi - yadukula kAmbhOji - Adi

The Gopikas sing this song while playing with Krishna. They request the playful Krishna to repeat his pranks.

Krishna the most fascinating boy was running hither and thither teasing Gopikas. They were enjoying fun with him in various ways.

Oh Krishna, your gem studded hangings on your ears are shining. Your nose is sharp like champaka flower and the pearl on your nose is beautiful.

Oh Krishna, you are fragrant with saffron mixed sandal paste. You comfort your devotees and bestow all happiness.

Oh Krishna, your deeds for the welfare of the world are great. ||

Ehi mudam mama - tODi - Adi

Mother Yasoda sings this song praising krishna's beauty and qualities. She requests him to show his pranks and make her happy.

Sri Krishna is the protector of all 'lokas' but he delighted all with his mischivous deeds as child of Nanda in Nandigrama. Mother Yasoda clarified butter and kept in a pot. Child Krishna crawled to the pot and leaning on the pot he started eating the butter. He symbolically shows that he enjoyed the essence of the Universe.

Koustubha gem is magnificient on your chest. You are holding a butter ball in your hand. Your radiance is great. You are the joy of Gokulam. You are dear to the great ascetics. You are Indra's lord. It is impossible for demons to defeat you. You are the valiant Padmanabha who dispels the arrogance of demons.

Oh Krishna, Your tender feet ache because you walk so much. Don't make the butter in your hands dirty. You conquered all desires and you are the absolute. You absolve all sins. You are the jewel of the earth with your tinkling anklets.

You are adorned with bracelet, armlets and gold dancing bells on your feet. You are smeared with saffron mixed sandal paste. Your curly hair is lovely. You are the jewel of Gokula. You are always helpful to the humanity. Your fame is eternal like the moon. You bestow us auspciousness. You make Narayana Teertha happy.

krishNam kalaya sakhi - mukAri - Adi

In this tarangam Gopikas describe the great qualities of Sri Krishna who is none other than Sriman Narayana. They praise him as the embodiment of Satchitdananda.( truth, conciousness, bliss)

lAlayantee yaSoda sA nandasya mahishisutam
charamtam kardamabhuvi tvaraya jagruhe harim ||

Nanda's wife Yasoda caught hold of Krishna who was playing in mud. She gently requested him to get home.

Krishna is not attached to the worldly things. He is the splendour of this universe. He is the conquerer of the enemies of Devatas.

Nanda and his subjects of Brindavan are fortunate to watch the holy story of this butter thief because of their pious deeds. Yogi Narayana Teertha sings this Dhruva Padam with the most beautiful words.

Mother Yasoda tied krishna to a grinding stone. When he dragged the stone, it stuck between two trees and uprooted them. Nalakubera and Manigreeva the sons of Kubera who remained as those trees due to a curse, got redeemed. Then they sang this song praising Sri Krishna.

Once Brahma wanted to test the greatness of Krishna and stole some cowherd boys and cows. He hid them away from Gokulam. Krishna, who is omniscient , took their form by his maya and kept them all in the village itself. Brahma realises his mistake and chants the praise of Sri Krishna in this song.

The wives of sages brought tasty Yajna prasadam and fed Krishna and his friends. Then they prayed to Krishna the lord of Gopikas with folded hands. In this popular tarangam Narayana Teertha describes the prayers of the wives of the sages. They were very happy to serve food to Krishna and his cowherd friends. It was prasadam distributed after an Yajna was performed by the sages.
