Sri Krishna fights with Kaliya serpent, controls it and dances on its hood. The distressed wives of Kaliya pray to the all merciful Krishna to pardon and save their husband Kaliya.

You are the abode of the Vedas. You are the prime cause of the universe. The philosophers believe that you are the abode of infinite happiness.

You are the most precious for the Yogis. You obliterate all sins. You recline on Adi Sesha. please protect our sinful husband Kaliya.

You are the savior of all the living creatures you emancipate all the living beings. All the Vedas declare that only you emancipate us.

sarva buddhishu prahitA sA cha veda viditA ||
You are very impartial. Your virtuous deeds are well known. Even the Vedas declare it.
C 5 ajnAta vastu ki masti vijNAnasya tE
AjNApaya yaduchita masmAkam jagatprabhO ||
Is there any thing that is not known to you? Oh lord of the universe, we seek your orders to act in an appropriate manner.

yOgi vara nArAyaNa teertha yati phaNitam ||
This is the prayer song of the wives of serpent Kaliya. Narayana Teertha, the blessed Yogi sings this.

Sree gOpAlaka mEva-kAmbhOji- Adi

Sri Krishna protects the cowherd boys from a great fire in the forest of Bhandiraka. Then the boys sing this song in reverence to Krishna, their savior.

I sincerely believe that only Sri Gopala Krishna is the Supreme God. I worship the lord with Srivatsa mark on his chest. He is the prop for all devotees. He is pure like divine swan for devotees. He is embodiment of Supreme bliss. He is eternal. He could keep all the 'Lokas' in his stomach and protect. He is adored by all Devatas.

You are the eternal bestower of absolute bliss to your devotees. You are above birth or death. You are the primordial and peerless. You are the victorious leader showing endless miracles. You conquered the kings who tortured the people.

pakshi rAja vAhanam vipaksha sikshakam
kukshi gata jaga danDakoTi dhArakam
aksheeNa gOkula nivAsalakshmee nAyakam ||
You are Sri Maha Vishnu with garuda bird as your vehicle with the sole purpose of annihilating evil forces. You are capable of keeping the whole cosmos in your stomach yet, Oh lord of Lakshmi, You made Gokulam your abode.

nAmaroopa nirvahakamAmnAya mAnakam
vArijAsanAdi vinutavArita Sokam

Narada and the other sages chant your name repeatedly. They tell that the name, the form and the existence of every thing is due to you only. Brahma and other Gods worship you. You allay our sorrows. You are the source of happiness to Narayana Teertha.

varAmbaram bahihstitam karAmbujE samudhavhan
bahoonnatE taTadrumE mahonnatO harihi sthitO
vadan vichitra narma tam hasannagAyatE druSam ||

Sree Krishna took away the robes of the bathing Gopikas who were in a pond. Smiling Krihsna sits on the branch of a tree and asks the Gopikas to come out of the pond to take their clothes. He tells them, that he was their most intimate. In this episode the transcendental and metaphysical aspects are ingrained. Robes also mean Maya that veils the mind.

The fruits gained even by the most proficient achievers are transient and deteriorate. Only the Supreme Lord is imperishable and immutable. Worship him only.

pari harasi vrudhA kadham
parama bAndhava stava prakaTa mEva vadati
parihara khElana bandham ||
Oh Gopikas, Come to the shore and take your apparels why are you wasting time? I am your intimate one. Listen to me and stop your sports in the water.

mAyAteeta vapusham mAdhavamEva janakam
mAnaya mAnaya sati ||
Your mothers are coming here for you, leaving their happy homes. I am above the mortal body. Madhava alone is the creator of the universe. Oh Gopikas, believe me.

This pleasant episode of fun and love of Krishna with Gopikas is written by Narayana Teertha who is devoted to the Guru. The nectar of this song is the ornament of Govinda's devotees.

gOvardhana girEh poojAm gOvinda vachanAdarAt
chakrurnandAdayasturNam savanasya gavAm tadhA ||
chatreekruta girirAjE rakshita gObAla gOdhana samAjE
gOvindE tamantam bhaktyA gOpyA jaguhu param tushTAh||

Krishna disuades Nanda and his subjects from performing Indra yagam (Ritual to please Indra). He preaches them that Sri Maha Vishnu is the only supreme God and advises them to invocate him in the Govardhana mountain and worship. Angered by this Indra troubles them with torrential rain and storm. Sri Krishna, the all powerful God lifts the Govardhana and protects them under it. They sing the praise of Krishna in this song.

Oh Krishna, You lifted the Govardhana mountain and protected the cowherd community. You are the embodiment of supreme happiness.

You have skilfully stopped Indra Yagam. (ritual). You are the Supreme Soul that kept the whole cosmos in your stomach. Your bravery is strong like the Meru mountain. You shatter away all our sins. You are more beautiful than a million cupids.

aparimitA nanda ghana nanda bAla
Samita daitya dambha SAntyAdi moola
vimala mAnasa vrutti vilasita SAla ||
You are the treasure house of unlimited auspicious qualities. Your divine sports are innumerable. You are the abode of limitless happiness. You are the great son of Nanda and you destroyed the deceitful demons. You stood for peace and tranquility. You are known for your unblemished disposition.

varada kimadbhuta machalEndra vahanam
mahaneeya keerti mA vahasi dEhi mudam
mAgha vanam mada mapanayasi katham ||
In Varaha avataram (incarnation as boar ) you bore the whole universe. Is it a big task for you to lift the Govardhana mountain? In fact you made Govardhana mountain famous. You showered happiness on us by destroying the ego of Indra.

You absorb your self in the ocean of happiness. Your valour is astounding. Your divine sport is unique. You are the dear son of Nanda and you protect your devotees. You are capable of accomplishing impossible tasks in a very easy way with your hands delicate like tender leaves. You enjoy the love of your dear ones.

pAvana charita parAmruta kanda
nAtya rasOtkaTa nAnA bharaNa
nArAyaNa teerthArchita charaNa ||
You annihilated the enemies of devatas and your life is holy. You bestow the nectar of trascendental happiness.You immerse in the divine dance. Your ornaments are many. Narayana Teertha worships your feet.

nanda nandana gOvindA -sAvEri - tripuTa

After the Govardhana episode, Indra comes with Kamadhenu (Divine cow that fulfills wishes) to Krishna to beg pardon for his foolish action before the Govardhana episode. Kamadhenu also worships Krishna with her sacred milk (Abhishekam) and sings his praise.

Sri Krishna is beautiful with lotus-like eyes. His smiles are like moonlight radiating happiness in the world. He is unblemished. The world bows to Krishna the embodiment of Supreme bliss.

Your smile is modest and beautiful. Your radiance dispels the blinding darkness. You are the essence of perpetual happiness.

Your compassion is limitless. You destroyed demon clan. Your costume is in beautiful yellow and you protect those who serve you.

Your beautiful forehead is docorated with the mark of Kasturi (musk). Oh lord of Lakshmi , the three wave-like folds on your stomach look beautiful.

visteerNa dayOtkanTha vinata Sree kanTha ||
Your neck is adorned with Koustubha gem and you make heaven beautiful with your presence. Even Sankara with all eagerness seeks your compassion.

Oh Hari, you shine with the hue of blue sapphire. You are adorned with diamond studded ear rings. You are Sriman Narayana descending on the earth in human form.

Beautiful Gopikas whose eyes are like the petals of blue lotus (kumuda) are enchanted by your moon like face. You dwell in the hearts of the sages and you remove all pain.

nara nArAyaNa teertha varya purushArtha ||
You are the benefactor of those who surrender to you. You showered all help to your devoted Arjuna. Please bestow the four purusharthas i.e. basic tenets Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha to Narayana Teertha. (Righteousness, Wealth, Desire and Salvation)

In the season of Saradrutu (Autumn) Sri Krishna was at Brindavan playing divine flute mellifluosly. The beautiful Gopikas who were eagerly waiting to meet their most fascinating Krishna, sing this song.

Beautiful Sarat season arrived after wet rainy season. Stars are shining making the sky beautiful like Goddess Saraswati. Wise people are making the best use of clear weather.

P parama purusha manu yA mavayam sakhi parama purusha manu yAma || Oh dear friends, let us follow Sri Krishna the supreme personality.
AP suruchira hAsam sundara nAsam taruNaruNa kiraNAdhara sarasam || His smile is pleasant and his nose is beautiful. His lips are shining with the radiance of the crimson rays of the Sun.

He is the dear son of Nanda. He is strong willed (even Manmatha has no influence on him.) He engages himself in various sports at Brundavan. The celestial gods bow to his bee hued feet. The rays from the saphires in their crowns shine on his feet.

bhavya sEvaka jana bhAgya vitaraNam
Avyaya vimala vibhooti vijrumbhita divya maNi
rachita vividhAbharaNam ||
The sages are emancipated by contemplating on his feet. He makes the devotees at his service prosperous. His supernatural powers are limitless. Various ornaments on him, studded with gems. spread their radiance.

He is very magnanimous. He is bereft of sins. He wears the most fragrant flower garlands. He creates nectar of music on his divine flute. Koustubha necklace is looking beautiful on him.

kavijana mAnaSa kamala vilasitam
Siva nArAyaNa teertha virachitam
Sree gOpAla dayA rasa miLitam ||
This beautiful song by the young maids delights the Yogis and blooms the the lotus like hearts of Poets. It is written by Narayana Teertha blending it with the essence of Gopala's compassion.

pooraya mama kAmam -bilahari -Adi

Slokam :
janmAntara sahasrEshu kruta puNya phalOdayA
ida mAhAparA kAntam kurvantee praNateermuhuhu ||

One of the Gopikas who is well learned, describes Krishna as the incarnation of Sri Maha Vishnu. She says that those who realise it are blessed souls and she prays to Gopala to fulfill her desire.

Again and again I bow to you, the lotus eyed Gopala.

Oh Madhava, you are the Almighty descended on the earth accepting human form as part of your Maya(sport). Blessed are they who grasp your philosophic nature. You are the creator of the universe and all its splendour.

sangata kEyoora samudita dAsa ||
You moved in Brindavana pleasantly. Peacock plume is your diadem. You spent time happily in the bowers of Brindhavana. You sported in water with a smilling face. You are adorned with ornaments and you make your devotees happy.
C 3 matsya koormAdi daSa mahitA vatAra
madanugrahA dava madana gOpAla
vAtsalya pAlita vara yOgi brunda
vara nArAyaNa teertha vardhita mOda ||
Oh Gopala, you have taken ten incarnations i.e. fish, turtle etc. Shower your grace on me. You protected the sages with all affection. Narayana Teertha is blessed by you.

vada kim karavANi sakhi-kalyANi-aTa

Slokam :
murAri vachanA vyagrA vallavee kApi tatparA
sambOdhaitvA svasakhee miti gAyati sAdaram ||

Gopikas come to Brindavan leaving their families to meet Krishna. But Krishna advises them to get back to their homes. The disappointed Gopikas sing this song lamenting on their fate.

P vada kim karavANi sakhi hE vada kOkila SukavANi || Oh my dear friend with the voice of a cuckoobird, tell me what should I do.

vadati kimapi kimapi vakratayAlam ||
Oh my dear one, I have come to this Brindavan for Krishna who is adorned with peacock feather as plume. But He is talking in a disappointing manner.

amita krupA nidhi rayamiti sahasA
adhunA gata miha tyajati katha mayam ||
I spent every minuite of the day as a millemum and came here by the night. But Krishna, known as the ocean of compassion is rejecting me. What should I do now?

gruha pari gruheetAnta rangam
mahaneeya muraLee saraLa geeta mantrENa
mOhita mapi rachayati gruha sangam ||
I came to Brundhavan leaving my attachment to my home, husband, sons, wealth etc. They are dispelled by the divine Mantra of Krishnas song on flute. But Krishna is now advising me to go home and to be devoted to my family.

tarumupa labhya kOpi kAmitadam
saphalEya miti gOpikA gaNa geetam
vipulam siva nArAyaNa teerthE nEdam ||
Oh my dear friend, only one who performed severe penance is blessed with the fortune of possesing Sri Krishna the Kalpataru (wish fulfilling tree) on the earth. The Gopikas expressed their agony in this song which is written in detail by Siva Narayana Teertha.

budhyAdi tatva pari chihnita gOpa vEsham
siddhAnu bhAvita maSEsha jagannidhAnam
nAsAgra lagna nava mouktika chandrabimbam
bimbAdharam bhava bhaya praSamam namAmi ||

Sri Krishna enlightens the Gopikas the philosophic truths and the fundamental nature of soul and supersoul (jeevatma and paramathma.) Then they sing about the spiritual qualities of Krishna in great devotion.

Your eyes are like lotus petals and your neck is like a conch. Your lips are red like ripe bimba fruits and your face is beautiful like the moon. Your nose is sharp like champeya flower adorned with shining pearls. The pleasant moon of Saratrutu (the autumn) is arousing amorous feelings.

apagata mOha tadudbhava nija janaka

You took the eluding human form by your Maya. You amazed Brahma showing your magnificient power of creating the whole cosmos. As father you showered compassion and dispelled his delusion.

Samita bhava tApasa jana mOha ||
Your ear rings are shining like the Sun who blossoms the lotuses which are like the hearts of sages. Your compassionate looks soothe us like the rays of the moon. The worldly agonies and delusions of the saints vanish by your grace.

vraja yuvatee mAnasArNava bhO
sarasa guNArNavateerNa bhavArNava
satata geeta keerti manDala bhO ||
The hearts of Gopikas are filled with the nectar like melodies emanating from your divine flute. You are the ocean of auspicious qualities and you are above the worldly things. We sing your glory always.

vyjayantee koustubhAdi bhoosha
sweekruta budhyAdi tatva samanvita
divya mangaLa gOpabAlaka vEsha ||
The conch,the discus the lotus, the bow, the sword, the Vyjayanti and Koustubha are your ornaments. You have eulogised the philosophic truths in a very comprehensive manner. You are divine and auspicious Gopala.

dvaya lakshaNa sukha bhAno
bhOgi kulOtama bhOga Sayana
dugdha sAgarajA lakshaNaDhya tanO ||
You are the peak point of the mountain-like scripts. You are the illuminating Sun of all philosophic truths. You are the yogi reclining on the Sesha serpent. Lakshmi who was born in the ocean of milk shines on your chest.

purandarAdi vandya pada kamala
nanda nandana yOgi varya dhurandhara

Gopikas were worshipping Sri Krishna the quintessence of all 'lokas' and the embodiment of Supreme bliss. They were singing and dancing playing musical instruments. Their gem-studded ear-rings were dangling beautifully. They were immersed in devotional joy. Celestial women observed the grand spectacle from the sky and sang praising Govinda.

His bee colored eyes are making the lotus like faces of the Gopikas happy. His ear rings with the figure of crocodile are swinging while he is dancing beautifully. He is the most auspicious savior and he is the fulcrum of the universe. He annhilated the clan of demons.

Madana Gopala is standing beautifully in between beautiful Gopikas like a ruby in between two emerald stones. He is fragrant with jasmine and champeya flowers.He is great but he is gentle.
