kAla harana mElara - Suddha sAvEri - roopakam

In this Kruti, Tyagaraja requests Rama not to make any delay to protect him. He adds that he has faith in Rama only.

P kAla haraNa mElarA harE seetA rAma || Why this delay, Oh Sita Rama?
AP kAla haraNa mEla suguna jAla karuNAla vAla || Time is fleeing, Oh Rama, the embodiment of all virtues and mercy. Why don't you hasten?
C chuTTi chuTTi pakshulella cheTTu vedaku reeti bhuvini
puTTa gAne nee padamula baTTu konna nannu brOva ||
I surrendered at your feet since my birth, like a bird reaching its nest on a tree, after flying around. ||
C poDavuna entADu konna bhoomini tyAgambu reeti
kaDu vElpula munna neevu gAka yevaru nannu brOva
dina dinamunu tirigi tirigi dikku lEka SaraNu jochchi
tanuvu dhanamu needE yanTi tyAgarAja vinuta rAma ||
Even the greatest person who boasts of himself, has to leave this earth.
Though there are many other gods, you are the only one I seek for protection.
I searched in vain everyday. I have none else to protect me.
My body and wealth are yours. Tyagaraja worships you.

kanu gonTini - bilahari - Adi

Tyagaraja's great joy after he recovered his lost idol is expressed in this Kruti. He also picturises the arrangement of his idols in his prayer room.

P kanu gonTini Sree rAmuni nEdu || I found Sri Rama today.
AP inakulamandu impu gAnu buTTi
ilalOna seetA nAyakuni nEDu ||
He is born pretty in the family of Surya (Sun) dynasty, in the world.
He is the Lord of Sita.
C bharata lakshmaNa Satrughnulu koluva
pavamAna sutuDu pAdamula baTTa
dheerulaina sugreeva pramukhulu
vinuti sEya tyAgarAja nutuni nEDu ||
Bharata, Lakshmana, Satrughna are serving.
Anjaneya, the sun of Vayu (Wind God), is standing at His feet.
Brave Sugreeva and other great warriors are praising the Lord of Tyagaraja.

kaligi yunTe - keeravANi - Adi

In this Keertana Tyagaraja says that punyam (piety) accumulated in previous births, yields fruits in this birth. He regrets accusing God for his fate and determines to follow Prahlada and other devotees.

P kaligi yunTE kaDA kalgunu kAmita phala dAyaka || Punyam (reward for pious life) of previous births yields desired fruits in this birth.
AP kalini ingita merugaka ninnADu konTi
chalamu chEyaka nAtalanu chakkani vrAta ||
I blamed you due to my ignorance and kali yuga.
Do not be angry, after all that is my fate.
C bhagavatA grEsarulagu nArada
prahlAda parASara rAmadAsulu
bAguga Sree raghu rAmuni padamula
bhakti chEsina reeti tyAgaraju ni kipuDu ||
The path of great devotees Narada, Prahlada, Parasara and Ramadasu is the right path for Tyagaraja now.

kaddanu vAriki - toDi - Adi

"Our elders repeatedly expressed their faith in the existence of God. This cannot be a lie today," says Tyagaraja in this great Keertana. He implores every body to sing with a pious mind.

P kaddanu vAriki kaddu kaddani morala niDu
peddala mATalu nEDabaddha mounO ||
Elders repeatedly expressed their faith in the existence of God. This cannot be a lie today.
AP addampu chekkiLLa chE muddu gAru mOmu jooDa
buddhi kalgi naTTi mA vadda rAvadEmirA ||
We see your lovely face, with mirror like cheeks.
Why don't you come to us who have good faith?
C niddura nirAkarinchi muddu gA tambura paTTi
Suddha maina manasu chE suswaramutO
paddu tappaka bhajiyinchE bhakta pAlanamu sEyu
tat daya Salivi neevE tyAgarAja sannuta ||
Rejecting sleep, devotees hold the tambura prettily and regularly sing well, with pure mind.
You take care of them with all kindness. Tyagaraja worships you.

kOTi nadulu - tODi - Adi

In this Keertana Tyagaraja says that Yogis meditate on the point between bow like eyebrows. Sri Rama touched end of his bow to shoot at the arrogant sea. He praises the holy temple at Dhanushkoti in this song.

P kOTi nadulu dhanush kOTilO nunDaga
yETiki tirigEvE O manasa ||
When there are crores of rivers in Dhanush koti, why do you run hither and thither? Oh my heart.
AP sooTiga SyAma sundara moortini
mATi mAtiki choochE maharAjulaku ||
Great yogis see Syama Sundara moorty (Rama) directly in front of them at Dhanush koti again and again.
C ganga noopurambunanu janinchanu rangani kAvEri kani rAjillanu
ponguchu Sree raghu nAdhuni prEmatO
pogaDe tyAgarAju manavi vinavE ||
Ganga takes birth at the feet of Vishnu. Kaveri overflows with joy by the side of Sri Ranga.
Oh my heart, listen to the appeal by Tyagaraja, who praises Sri Raghunatha with love.

koluvai yunnADe - bhairavi - Adi

In this kruti, Tyagaraja describes the scene of Rama and Sita sitting together with their kinsmen. He says that it is a delightful sight even to the celestial beings.

P koluvai yunnaDe kOdanDa pANi || Kodanda Rama (Rama with bow) is presiding in His royal court in all the splendor.
AP toli karma maNaga jootumu rArE
tOya jAri rOhiNi gooDina reeti||
Let us go and have a darsan (sight) to cleanse our sins. It is as beautiful as the moon approaching his favorite star, Rohini.
C manasu ranjillu sura satulu aNi
mAdulu koluva vEyi vanne
kanaka SalAkanu gEru seetA
kAnta tOnu tyAgarAja vinutuDu ||
His presence in His court is delightful even to the celestial dancers that assembled there to pray and also to other deities with wealth and supernatural powers. He is delightful with His smiling consort, Sita. She is beautiful like a golden creeper. He is worshipped by Tyagaraja.

kolu vamaregada - tODi - Adi

In this kruti, Tyagaraja describes in detail the various sevas i.e. steps in worshipping Lord Rama from early in the morning to night, saying that it is a pleasant sight and experience.

P koluva mare gada kOdanDa pANi || The sight of Kodanda Rama (Rama with bow) with His kinsmen in royal splendor is very pleasant.
AP naluvaku palukula cheliyaku rukmiNi ki
lalita ku seetaku lakshmaNu karudaina ||
It is a rare opportunity to even Brahma, Saraswati, Rukmini, Parvati, Sita, and Lakshmana.
C vEkuva jAmuna velayuchu tambura
chEkoni guNamula cheluvonda bADuchu
Sreekaruni kASrita chintA maNuniki
Akali deera pAlAra gimpanu jEsE ||
Holding tambura elegantly at dawn, singing well the praise of Rama, offering milk sumptuously to Rama who bestows wealth, who is like chintamani (precious stone that fulfills wishes) to devotees, is very pleasant.
C vina vayya sari poddu vELa nAdhuniki
chanuvuna panneeTa snAnamu gAvinchi
ghanu niki divya bhOjanamunu beTTu ka
mmani viDe mosaguchu maravaka sEvinchE ||
Giving holy bath to Lord Rama in scented water early in the morning, serving him a hearty meal, offering Him tasty tamboolam (betel leaves with nuts and spcies) without fail is very pleasant.
C bhAgavatulu bAgugA ghana naya
rAgamula chE deepArAdhana monarinchi
vEgame Sree hari virula pai bavaLinchi
jO goTTi tyAgarAja sumukhuni lEpe ||
Singing melodiously in various ragas by the devotional singers, lighting prayer lamps to worship the Lord, arranging a comfortable bed of flowers, singing soft songs to lull the Lord to sleep and again waking Him up early in the morning singing devotional songs in praise of the Lord of Tyagaraja is a very pleasant sight.

kanTa jooDumi - vAchaspati - Adi

In this kruti Tyagaraja says that Rama was very much pleased with Lakshmana's service and glanced at him smilingly in the presence of Sita. He requests Rama to see him also in the same way.

P kanTa jooDumi oka pari kree|| Please look at me from the corner of your eyes.
AP banTu Dai velayu bAgugAni tappu
tanTa lella mAnu konna nannu gree ||
I am your good servant. I gave up all my bad behavior.
C ala nADu sowmitri pAda sEva
chela rEgi sEyu vELa seetatO
paliki choochinanta pulakAnkituDai
paragina yaTu tyAgarAjuni kree ||
Some time back you told Sita about Lakshmana's sincere service with a smiling face. Lakshmana was overwhelmed by that. In the same manner glance at Tyagaraja also.
